Sono sempre stato piuttosto scettico riguardo agli ebook. Ho sempre ritenuto che leggere un libro su uno schermo fosse un’esperienza frustrante, decisamente inferiore al piacere di sfogliare delle pagine cartacee, decisamente più faticoso e stressante per la vista.

Steve Jobs consiguió contratar a Mark Papermaster (un veterano de IBM por 25 años) y estará como vice-presidente de la división Devices Hardware Engineering, específicamente en Apple’s iPod and iPhone hardware engineering. Supuestamente este individuo es un “wiz kid” desarrollando cosas nuevas y radicales al estilo de Steve Jobs. Es tan así, que cuando renuncio a IBM para trabajar en una división no especificada de Apple, esta lo demando por tener demasiado conocimiento de cosas en IBM y sus “trade secrets”. Steve Jobs no se esta durmiendo en los laureles y definitivamente la adición de este individuo a su staff comprueba eso. Así que esperen más mejoras significativas en el iPhone/iPod.

Blogo Weblog Editor updated, Twitter and Drupal now supported

Wynnewood, PA - Brainjuice announced today that Blogo 1.1, the latest version of its weblog editor for Mac OS X, is now available to the public for download. Blogo makes posting easy even for users with no knowledge of HTML, and now includes support for the WordPress, Blogger, Drupal, TypePad, MovableType, and typo weblog systems. In addition to Drupal, the application has also added Twitter to its growing list of supported services.

Version 1.1 adds new features in addition to fixes for many outstanding issues. Highlights include:

iPass to provie Wi-fi conectivity for Windows Mobile 6, iPhone and Blackberry

iPass today announced service availability for Windows Mobile 6 devices. Users of the iPass Mobile Office service for enterprises and iPassConnect™ mobility service for individuals can now connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi using their Windows Mobile 6 smartphone and handheld devices. iPass plans to support the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch later this year and intends to support Wi-Fi-enabled Blackberry devices as well.

Leech 1.1 Released with Seamless Browser Integration

Sente 5.5 enhances PDF management

Denver, Colorado - Third Street Software today announced the release of Sente 5.5 with enhanced PDF management. In this new version, users can create references directly from the PDF files they already have, as well as new PDFs that they receive from colleagues. Sente uses Google Scholar, the Library of Congress and PubMed to create complete references when importing a new PDF.

These new features complement the improved PDF acquisition tools introduced in Sente 5.4, which enable Sente to automatically download, rename and file any PDF the user clicks on in the new Links view.

Sente 5.5 also includes a new Quick Add feature that lets users create complete citations from only an ISBN, DOI or PubMed ID.

Tumult Co. Releases Hyperedit 1.6

Cupertino, California - Tumult Co. today announced the release of version 1.6 of its lightweight HTML and PHP editor for Mac OS X, HyperEdit. Tumult HyperEdit uses a split view with text editor and a preview pane to display the web page live as a user types.

HyperEdit breaks the tedious cycle of writing HTML/PHP, saving the file, then reloading and viewing the page in the browser by combining the writing phase with the viewing phase. This clarifies the effects of changes and speeds up the overall process of making a web page. W3C-based validation will red-underline any mistakes. It uses the same rendering engine found in Safari, so it is not only standards compliant, but also very fast.

Final Cut Server and Burning Blu-ray disks at lafcpug, April 30

Los Angeles, CA - The next meeting of the Los Angeles Final Cut Pro User Group (lafcpug) will be Wednesday, April 30, 2008 beginning at 6:45 PM at the Gallery Theater in East Hollywood, California.
